Knowing the Middle East 5g5618

26 october 2018 4kx6y

Overview: 5p546d

The Middle East is an important economic hub, concentrating 60% of the world's oil reserves. Located between the Mediterranean, Black, Caspian, Arabian and Red seas, in recent decades the region has faced challenges such as the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, the uprisings of the “Arab Spring”, the civil war in Syria and the emergence of the Islamic State, consolidating Iran as a regional power.

The relationship with Brazil began to take shape in the 1980s, having increased since then. Brazil is one of the main suppliers of products to the Arab countries, with chicken and beef standing out in Brazilian exports to the region.

The course Knowing the Middle East addresses the new perspectives of the region today and analyzes the relations between Brazil and the Middle East under different aspects, from the perspective of academics, diplomats, liberal professionals and the government.
