Biography Marcos Azambuja 2d181o

Azambuja is Trustee Emeritus at the Brazilian Center for International Relations (CEBRI). He served as Ambassador of Brazil to Argentina (1992-1997) and (1997-2003), as well as Head of Brazil's Delegation for Disarmament and Human Rights Affairs in Geneva (1989-1990).

He was Coordinator of the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development (Rio 92 Earth Summit). At the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, he served as Secretary-General (Deputy Minister), having previously served in London, Mexico City and New York (at the United Nations). He was a Member of the Commission on Weapons of Mass Destruction and the Tokyo Forum for Nuclear Non-Proliferation and Disarmament.

Ambassador Azambuja is currently a member of the Brazilian Historical and Geographic Institute (IHGB), the Institute of National Historical and Artistic Heritage (IPHAN) and the Roberto Marinho Foundation.
