On September 6 (Wednesday), at 11am BRT, the Brazilian Center for International Relations (CEBRI) and the Institute for Climate and Society (iCS) held a meeting among civil society institutions to discuss the environmental and climate agenda within the scope of the G20, which will be presided over by Brazil in 2024. 4x6p6z

This meeting, restricted to invited guests, marks the beginning of a series of four gatherings dedicated to analyzing the environmental and climate agenda within the Group of 20 and to establish a network of Brazilian civil society institutions working towards the transition to a sustainable development model. The goal is to identify priorities and formulate recommendations that can contribute to the Brazilian presidency of the G20. The outcomes of these efforts will be documented in a policy paper, the recommendations of which will be shared publicly. This initiative aims to prepare Brazilian civil society for the G20 summit in 2024, which will be hosted in Brazil.

The G20 brings together the twenty largest economies on the planet and, in recent years, has expanded discussions beyond strictly economic matters to include aspects of the environmental and climate agenda. Brazil's presidency of the G20 in 2024 will provide civil society organizations with a unique opportunity to collaborate and influence the guidelines of participating countries regarding global challenges, including climate change.
