Biography José Botafogo Gonçalves 2vm22

Vice Chairman of the Brazilian Center for International Relations (CEBRI). Served as Brazil’s Minister for Industry, Trade and Tourism (1998-1999). He also served as Ambassador to Argentina (2002-2004) and as Special Ambassador for Mercosur Affairs.

Previously, he was Executive Secretary for the Executive Secretariat of the Foreign Trade Chamber (CAMEX) and Secretary of International Economic and Technical Cooperation at the office of the President of the Republic. At the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, he was Deputy Secretary General for Integration Affairs, Economic Affairs and Foreign Trade, along with numerous other positions.

He is currently a consultant at Chediak Attorneys. He received dual bachelor’s degrees in law and social sciences from the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro.
